Identification and characterization of two subpopulations of Encephalitozoon intestinalis

Microsporidia are obligate intracellular protozoa that have been shown to be pathogenic to most living creatures. The development of in vitro cell culture propagation methods has provided researchers with large numbers of spores and facilitated the study of these organisms.

Modern histochemical methods using enzymes as markers

In the 25 years since the idea that histochemically detectable enzymes could serve as a marker of ligands, the world of histochemistry has undergone a dramatic change. Today slides of immunostained tissue sections may be filed together with hematoxylin- and eosin-stained slides and may be examined at one\'s leisure.

Myeloid Sarcoma Masquerading as Granulation Tissue: A Diagnostic Pitfall

Myeloid sarcoma is an uncommon neoplasm, comprising an extramedullary tumorous proliferation of immature myeloid cells. Its rarity and tendency for diverse clinical presentation contribute to difficulty in timely diagnosis. This report describes a case of a painful back lump in an elderly Chinese male, which was initially diagnosed as a carbuncle.
