Topological Node-Line Semimetal and Dirac Semimetal State in Antiperovskite Cu_{3}PdN.

Based on first-principles calculation and effective model analysis, we propose that the cubic antiperovskite material Cu_{3}PdN can host a three-dimensional (3D) topological node-line semimetal state when spin-orbit coupling (SOC) is ignored.

Large Flexoelectric Anisotropy in Paraelectric Barium Titanate.

The bending-induced polarization of barium titanate single crystals has been measured with an aim to elucidate the origin of the large difference between theoretically predicted and experimentally measured flexoelectricity in this material.

Myocardial Late Gadolinium Enhancement: Accuracy of T1 Mapping-based Synthetic Inversion-Recovery Imaging.

Purpose To compare the accuracy of detection and quantification of myocardial late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) with a synthetic inversion-recovery (IR) approach with that of conventional IR techniques

Graphene oxide derivatives with variable alkyl chain length and terminal functional groups as supports for stabilization of cytochrome c

In this study we report the ability of reduced and non-reduced graphene oxide-based nanomaterials (GONs), modified with variable alkyl chain length and terminal functional groups, to act as effective scaffolds for the immobilization of cytochrome c (cyt c) using different immobilization procedures.

Effect of inorganic carbon on nitrogen removal and microbial communities of CANON process in a membrane bioreactor

In this study, a membrane bioreactor (MBR) was adopted for completely autotrophic nitrogen removal over nitrite (CANON) process. Inorganic carbon (IC) was step-wise decreased to analyze the IC influence on nitrogen removal and microbial communities; finally IC was elevated to study its recovery capability.

Controllability of brushite structural parameters using an applied magnetic field

The paper studies the influence of low intensity static magnetic field on brushite structural and microstructural parameters using the X-ray diffraction and the transmission electron microscopy. This effect was shown to have various influences on DCPD (Dicalcium Phosphate Dihydrate) structure depending on a magnetic field configuration or time of synthesis.

In vivo and in vitro studies of borate based glass micro-fibers for dermal repairing

Wound dressing materials are hotly needed to induce dermal reconstruction or to treat serious skin defects. In this study, the borate bioactive glass (BG) micro-fibers were fabricated and compared with the traditional material45S5 Bioglass(®) (SiG) micro-fibers. The morphology, biodegradation and bioactivity of BG and SiG micro-fibers were investigated in vitro.

The properties of the nano-minerals and hazardous elements: Potential environmental impacts of Brazilian coal waste fire

The area studied here was abandoned and after almost 30 years (smokeless visual) some companies use the actual minerals derived from burning coal cleaning rejects (BCCRs) complied in the mentioned area for industry tiles or refractory bricks.

The formation of web-like connection among electrospun chitosan/PVA fiber network by the reinforcement of ellipsoidal calcium carbonate

The electrospun fibers consist of backbone fibers and nano-branch network are synthesized by loading of ellipsoidal calcium carbonate in the mixture of chitosan/poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) followed by electrospinning. The synthesized ellipsoidal calcium carbonate is in submicron size.

Cytocompatibility of amine functionalized carbon nanoparticles grafted on polyethylene

Five types of amide-amine Carbon Nano-Particles (CNPs) were prepared by functionalization of CNPs and characterized by several analytical methods. The successful grafting of amines on CNPs was verified by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), organic elemental analysis and electrokinetic analysis.
