BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Nils Ole Schmidt is a senior attending neurosurgeon at the Department of Neurosurgery at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf in Germany with a clinical focus on neuro-oncological and cerebrovascular surgery. He is head of a research group within the Hans-Dietrich Herrmann Laboratory for Brain Tumor Biology. He graduated from Medical School at the University of Hamburg with several clinical internships in the UK, USA, Switzerland and South Africa. He did his postdoctoral training in the Neurosurgical Oncology Laboratory at the Department of Neurosurgery, Brigham & Women‘s Hospital/Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA and completed his neurosurgical specialization in Hamburg.
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Dr. Nils Ole Schmidt‘s research aims for the development of targeted brain tumor therapies with a major focus on stem cell technology, drug delivery, gene therapy, tissue engineering, angiogenesis and MR imaging.
