BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Richard Simman has been practicing in the Dayton area for over a decade. He is a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, also a founding member and past president of the American College of Certified Wound Specialists. He is also the founding president and chair of the American Board of Wound Medicine and Surgery.
Dr. Simman is a clinical Associate Professor in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Department of Surgery and Associate Research Professor at the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Wright State Boonshoft School of Medicine. His endowment with Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine aims to fund the graduate student research. His background includes training in General Surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, Columbia University in New York, NY and a Plastic Surgery residency at Providence Hospital and Medical Centers in Southfield, MI under the supervision of Dr. Ian T. Jackson, a world famous plastic surgeon. In addition, he completed a Burn Fellowship followed by a Research Fellowship at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
As an active clinician and researcher, his work has been published in numerous major journals including, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Annals of Plastic Surgery, Aesthetics of Plastic Surgery, The Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, Wounds, Academic Emergency Medicine, Advances in Skin and Wound Care and The Journal of the American College of Certified Wound Specialists. He is an active member of numerous medical associations.
Dr. Simman is currently the Editor in Chief of the Journal of American College of Clinical Wound Specialists. He is the Medical Director of the wound care program at Kindred Hospital of Dayton. Dr. Simman also chairs the annual wound symposium on Advancing the Standards in Wound Care held in Dayton, Ohio.
