BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Sheldon R. Gordon received his Ph.D. from the Department of Zoology at the University of Vermont in Cell Biology and did his post-doctoral research work at the Kresge Eye Institute, Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. He is currently a Professor of Biological Sciences at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Dr. Gordon’s research interest centers around cell movement during injury-induced wound repair in the corneal endothelium, particularly as it pertains to the reestablishment of an intact tissue monolayer. In this context he is particularly interested in both cytoskeleton and extracellular matrix proteins in repair processes and also is investigating mechanisms that lead to the reestablishment of cell-cell contacts during the repair process.
