Salerno is Professor of surgery, Chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital and tenured Professor of Surgery at University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, United States. He is Vice-Chairman, Department of Surgery at Miller School of Medicine. He is a member in various international societies. He is an Honorary President of Latin American Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons. He is an Editorial board member and reviewer for various international journals.
