BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. George Panayiotakis is a Professor of Medical Physics since 2004 and Director at the Medical Radiation Physics Unit of the University Hospital of Patras, Greece. He completed his B.Sc. studies in the Department of Physics at the University of Patras and received his PhD in Medical Physics in 1986 from the Department of Medicine of the same University.
Dr. George Panayiotakis is Chairman of the Committee of the Greek Ministry of Health for the certification of Medical Radiation Physicists and he has been an academic member of the University of Patras, Greece, since 1980. He has over 230 publications in international peer reviewed journals and over 400 presentations in international conferences. He has co-authored two books and eight book chapters. He is a reviewer in more than 20 international scientific journals.
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Dr. George Panayiotakis research interests lie in the field of Medical Radiation Physics and specifically medical imaging, medical image quality, quality assurance, dosimetry, phosphor materials used in medical radiation detectors and simulation of medical imaging systems using Monte Carlo techniques.
